Andrew vs Greta controversy

So, what does the term “small dick energy” mean?

How does the phrase challenge toxic masculinity, and how did it become popular?

What are some of the term’s criticisms?

People with small dick energy are petty, insecure, and, at their worst, cover it up with random cruelty.

You are familiar with these types of men and women: those who, when denied it, despise the world and will happily burn it.

That uncle who tries to dominate the younger folks around him since he hasn’t accomplished anything in his own life? small dick energy.

The senior manager whose career has stagnated and who is unkind to bright juniors? small-dick energy

The well-off aunt who always brags about her husband’s money and where she went on her last vacation because she feels that people don’t worship her enough? Immensely small-dick energy

Opposite from this people who do good in life, succeed and are kind to others are labelled as big dick energy.

It’s not clear that from where did this originates but it was surely popularised when an American singer Ariana Grande put out and then deleted a tweet about her then fiance Pete Davidson. As Twitterati discussed this, one user, @babyvietcong, tweeted, “Pete davidson is 6’3 with dark circles, exudes big dick energy, looks evil but apparently is an angel, and loves his girl publicly the only thing wrong w him is that he’s a scorpio but anyway…..id married him within a month too.” (sic)

According to The Guardian, this user borrowed the phrase from a tweet by @imbobswaget.

After her tweet the term became an internet sensation and stayed for weeks where people compared that which people had that energy and which people conspicuously lacked it.

Does it promote bodyshaming?

Coming to the body shaming part. Twitter users opined that the term “small dick energy” promotes body shaming. Popular tweets suggest the notion that every human is built different and it cannot be one size fits all. Twitter users said that the term “small dick energy” portrays people with smaller penises as lacking something & it should be equally criticised as some man bodyshaming women for their body size and shape.

One twitter user asked ChatGPT (AI based search engine) that, “If Greta Thunberg uses the word “smalldickenergy@getalife.com”, can we say she is body shaming all men who have a small penis?”

ChatGPT: “It is not appropriate to use derogatory language or insults based on someone’s physical characteristics, including their penis size. Using the phrase

“smalldickenergy@getalife.com” or any similar language to describe someone or something is hurtful and offensive, and it is not acceptable to use this kind of language.

If someone were to use this phrase or similar language, it could be considered body shaming, as it suggests that having a small penis is a negative characteristic and implies that it is associated with negative qualities or behaviors. Body shaming is a form of bullying and discrimination that can have serious negative impacts on an individual’s self- esteem and well-being. It is important to be respectful and considerate of others and to refrain from making derogatory comments or jokes about their physical appearance. Every individual is unique, and there is no one “ideal” penis size that is applicable to all people. It is important to recognize and respect the diversity of human bodies and to avoid making judgments or assumptions about someone based on their physical characteristics.” (sic)
